One of my favourite moments: Award of the Brass Balls -
"Michael the Long Suffering, Pennsic XXXIV, Aug 17, 2005 (for using his head on defensive on the field of honour)"
It was the
rapier castle battle and our opponents had an organ gun (which fired something
like eight rubber bands - lengths of surgical tubing - at once). Michael didn't
notice that all those around him were backing away as the organ gun was wheeled
out and he continued to advance, promptly catching six of the eight shots in
the head. Took one, well six actually, for the team. The Captain of the gun
crew, on learning of his award presented Michael with a can of Brasso.
