Mini-History of the Shire of Noergate (defunct)

Noergate was a shire located predominantly in the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. It originally formed as a canton in A.S. 18 (1984 or 1985). According to Cunnan, the canton "became defunct away by the mid to late 80s." The shire's webpage states that the "current shire has existed since 1996" (A.S. 30-31), which Cunnan confirms: "Fortunately, however, the canton was reconstituted in 1996."

They became a full status shire in March 1999 (A.S. 33) during the reign of the first Ealdormerian King and Queen, David and Elina.

The group merged with Shire of Flaming Sky (North By, Ontario area) to form the Shire of Brennistein Vatn in A.S. 43; which later became the Shire of Ulfhiem in A.S. 54.
